1. What is Goodyear Tire Management?
Every fleet has unique needs and challenges. One thing they all have in common, however, is the desire to efficiently lower operating costs and maximize uptime. Whether your goal as a fleet manager is to optimize fuel efficiency, extend tire life, reduce vehicle downtime or all of the above, developing a tailored program will help your fleet maximize the return on tire investment.
Goodyear Tire Management is part of our Total Mobility approach that helps fleets be proactive with tire maintenance to help fleet managers anticipate problems before they take your vehicles off the road. Goodyear’s tire monitoring tools capture tire information, and data-driven analytics identify issues and prompt service to fix them before breakdowns occur, meaning fewer unexpected repair expenses, less downtime and a stronger bottom line.
2. Don’t most fleet maintenance platforms include tire maintenance?
Fleet maintenance platforms are certainly valuable, and they help fleets institute more preventative vehicle maintenance practices to help monitor and control costs.
However, some fleet maintenance platforms don’t include tire maintenance as part of the core platforms. At Goodyear, we believe that our Total Mobility approach to tire management stands apart thanks to three important elements: a robust portfolio of innovative products across numerous trusted brands, our premier service network of more than 2,300 network dealers and Goodyear Commercial Tire & Service Centers nationwide and a leading suite of tools and services that comprise our complete tire management solutions.
3. Does Goodyear Tire Management only work with certain technologies?
Commercial vehicles are integrating more technology every day, making compatibility an important part of any Tire Management program. One of Goodyear’s suite of tire management solutions is an on-board, active monitoring system called Goodyear® TPMS Plus™. Sensors installed on the wheel or valve stem continuously transmit information back to you through the telematics box installed on the vehicle. Real-time alerts can be sent for identified temperature or pressure issues that require immediate attention. Goodyear’s proprietary algorithms and predictive analytics can also help identify potential issues so you can be proactive and avoid unexpected expenses.
The equipment options in the TPMS Plus offering are compatible with many existing technologies and our team will work with our customers and their existing technology on solutions to keep your fleet moving.
4. Do I have to use Goodyear tires to use Goodyear Tire Management solutions and get the benefits?
The short answer is no. Goodyear leverages a suite of tire-agnostic tools and technologies to capture important data from your fleet.
Goodyear TPMS Plus provides active tire monitoring for consistent updates from anywhere including valve stem or wheel-mounted sensors that can be installed on virtually any commercial vehicle, regardless of tire brand.
The Goodyear® Tire Optix™ digital toolset helps make the tire inspection process more efficient and accurate. You can monitor tire pressure, tread depth and mileage one vehicle at a time or efficiently complete an entire yard check before trucks go back on the road.
Goodyear® CheckPoint™ is an innovative, drive-over reader that is available in above-ground and in-ground systems and captures tread depth and tire pressure with patented PressureSense Technology™.
5. Will an effective tire management program require me to add more manpower to handle it?
Goodyear’s Tire Management solutions help you manage your vehicles, scheduled service program and emergency roadside service more efficiently. Our tools and services identify potential issues before your vehicles head out on the road and our data-driven tools can also give you the ability to plan and predict when maintenance will be required. When used optimally, Goodyear Tire Management programs can help optimize unexpected repair expenses, manpower, downtime and help contribute to a stronger bottom line for your fleet.
