Environmental Specialties International (ESI), a Baton Rouge, Louisiana-based installer and provider of geosynthetic lining materials, announced that it has acquired Patriot Environmental, Meeker, Oklahoma.
Founded in 2012, Patriot is a provider and installer of geosynthetic lining materials to the oil and gas exploration and production (E&P) industry.
“We are very excited to have the Patriot team join ESI,” Mark Dillon, president of ESI, says. “Patriot’s sustained performance and exceptional relationships with customers are what attracted us to them. Patriot’s character, long-term customer relationships, and their highly competent team are a great culture fit for ESI. We look forward to helping Patriot increase the value it provides to the oil and gas industry.”
“We have been approached by a number of companies over the years interested in partnering with our company,” Cody Smithson, founder and president of Patriot, says. “As Mark stated, we believe ESI is a great culture fit and provides our team a fantastic opportunity to offer even greater value and scale to the industry.”
Water containment, especially in areas where water is a scarce resource, is critical for horizontal fracking in the exploration and production of oil and gas. Whether it is for freshwater or recycled produced water, special containment systems (referred to as pits or impoundments) are built to manage the water. These impoundments are engineered systems featuring geosynthetic liners with leak protection. Geosynthetic lining materials are also used for reserve pits and secondary containment applications, while HDPE piping systems are used for the transportation of the water supporting production. Geosynthetic materials and HDPE piping systems are an integral part of the industry’s infrastructure, thereby providing production and environmental benefits to the industry.
The combination of ESI and Patriot will provide the oil and gas industry with material and installation expertise, an industry focused team to meet the dynamic requirements of the industry, and the necessary resources to serve the entire industry, according to the companies.
