Winn, Michigan-based Morbark LLC debuted its 2400X and 3000X Wood Hog horizontal grinders at the 2020 ConExpo-Con/Agg event in Las Vegas in March. The company says both machines can be equipped with tracks. The 3000X can be built as a fifth-wheel/dual-axle unit or as a tri-axle unit.
Morbark says it sees the machines being deployed in “niche markets like municipal solid waste (MSW), pallet recycling, sawmills, nurseries and tree care debris.” Both grinders, it adds, “are perfect for processing yard waste, brush and other mixed woody feedstock into saleable product.”
“Morbark continues to expand our efforts to better serve the needs of all our customers no matter where they live and work around the world,” says Michael Stanton, Morbark’s director of industrial products. “The 2400X and 3000X broaden our line of horizontal grinders for all global markets and further extend our reach into key niche markets both domestically and internationally.”
The company describes each of the new machines as being compact in size. “Their standard width makes them within the legal transport width in any country,” says Morbark. “The models also share design features like the sloped infeed sides, which improve operator sight lines for more efficient loading of material, and easy-to-load grate systems.”
Both models also are equipped with the Morbark Integrated Control System (MICS). “The ultimate diagnostics tool and control system, this allows the operator to automatically adjust feed rates and monitor pressures and feed wheel position to maximize production and engine efficiency,” Morbark says of MICS.
