Heil Common Body platform

Chattanooga, Tennessee-based Heil has introduced its Common Body platform, an engineering advancement that brings together the DuraPack Python automated side loader and Half/Pack front loader into one unified design. The 2026 DuraPack Python will be the first model built on its Common Body platform, which features an ergonomic cab interface designed with driver feedback in mind. A Half/Pack model is scheduled to be available in mid-2026. 

Key features include:

  • ergonomic cab interface
  • consistent controls across both vehicle types, integrated diagnostics and a single display
  • 3rd Eye cameras/lights integrated in the body and the Shur-Lock tailgate system integrated into the tailgate bolster

Autocar Smart Battery Cable

Autocar LLC, headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama, has released its Smart Battery Cable. The technology is designed for use in Autocar’s ACX severe-duty cabover vehicle and aims to reduce the risk of electrical fires in refuse trucks. Key features include:

  • a conductive detection shield between the inner and outer insulation
  • an alert system to notify the operator in event of a short circuit
  • compatible for use in conjunction with a vehicle crank interlock

Versa clamshell bucket

Originally manufactured in 1980, Astoria, Oregon-based Versa Corp. LLC’s Versa Bucket is a specialized, clamshell-style attachment for skid-steer loaders. Engineered for controlled gripping and streamlined material handling, the Versa Bucket can help separate heavy inert materials such as concrete or large timbers from lighter debris before further processing. Key features include:

  • heavy-duty steel jaw and gripping teeth that allow operators to scrape and squeeze materials firmly and cleanly
  • eight different models (25, 50, 75, 100, 125, 150, 200 and 300), featuring varying widths, capacities, cylinder sizes and closing forces
  • versatility in rough terrain and windy conditions
