Leanpath launches touchless AI food waste tracker

Leanpath, a food waste management company headquartered in Portland, Oregon, has launched an artificial intelligence- (AI-) based floor scale tracker for high-volume kitchens.
The new tracker integrates with Leanpath’s existing AI-powered platform, which the company says automatically analyzes food waste and delivers recommended operational changes to address a kitchen’s challenges.
The Floor Scale AI uses embedded machine vision to recognize food waste. Leanpath says the system automatically captures photos and operational details without the need for user input.
The captured data then feed into the Leanpath food waste dashboard to provide analytics, reporting and guidance for chefs and managers to access.
UBQ, Cascade Engineering supply waste carts
Cascade Engineering of Grand Rapids, Michigan, has been selected to supply 3,000 residential municipal solid waste (MSW) carts to the Central Virginia Waste Management Authority (CVWMA).
According to Israel-based company UBQ Materials, which has a United States office in Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, the carts will be manufactured by Cascade from a UBQ-developed composite material consisting of harvested MSW residue.
The carts will be delivered to residents and CVWMA customers in Richmond, Colonial Heights, Hopewell, Ashland and Henrico County, Virginia.
UBQ’s composite material is made from residual MSW, including “everything from food residues and mixed plastics to cardboard, paper and even dirty diapers.” Metals and minerals are removed and sent to traditional recycling streams.
Cascade Engineering specializes in large-tonnage plastic injection molding, with its Cascade Cart Solutions business unit referred to as a designer and manufacturer of waste and recycling carts, containers and other products for municipalities and businesses.
Pellenc ST to launch AI-based quality control analyzer

Pellenc ST, a France-based optical sorting solutions company, has launched an artificial intelligence-based quality control analyzer, AISEE, designed to help operators achieve efficiency and quality outputs.
The system’s purpose is to monitor, analyze and improve the quality of recyclables while reducing material losses.
Pellenc ST says operators face the challenge of recovering as many valuable materials as possible while ensuring consistent quality, and AISEE addresses this by accelerating the commissioning of large-scale projects with Pellenc ST’s optical sorters and monitoring waste streams in the sorting process.
The company says the system improves the quality of sorted fractions through optical sorter settings and reduces recyclable material losses by identifying errors in feedback loops and providing insights into material composition.
With AISEE, the company says operators will get real-time data, alerts on deviations or contaminants and the ability to optimize performance. Additionally, the system is prepared for future machine-to-machine automation.
Encamp adds Waste Command capabilities to compliance platform
Encamp, an environmental compliance data management and reporting company based in Indianapolis, has launched Waste Command, a set of new capabilities within its Encamp Waste hazardous waste compliance software platform.
Founded in 2017, Encamp serves over 30,000 waste management sites.
With Environmental Protection Agency reviews up 35 percent since the adoption of e-Manifest and fines reaching $4.3 million in a single quarter, Encamp says it recognized the need for a more reliable way to manage Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) reporting.
The newly added capabilities aim to help environmental, health and safety leaders reduce compliance risk, ensure audit readiness and simplify RCRA reporting across facilities and jurisdictions. Waste Command’s added features include automated RCRA notifications, biennial reports and compliance reviews and more.
Users can monitor generator thresholds, audit waste stream classifications and repair discrepancies between vendors and e-Manifest. They can manage submissions, in-progress drafts and completed reports with document review and sign-off directly in Encamp.
