Birmingham, Alabama-based waste and recycling collection truck maker Autocar LLC has created a series of videos examining the company’s design and manufacturing processes.
Autocar makes vocational trucks for construction, freight hauling and other applications, and its video series is focused on answering waste and recycling-specific topics such as how discarded materials get collected and how a manufacturer such as Autocar can make severe-duty vehicles that must hold up for years while taking relentless wear and tear.
The series of videos also focuses on Autocar’s Power of One (PO1) manufacturing process, which involves custom integration between Autocar and its body manufacturing partners to create a fully integrated, pre-engineered unit that meets every individual customer’s specific heavy-duty needs.
The video series, “Talking Trash,” features Autocar employees and illustrates PO1 in action from the plant floor.
Autocar says the series shows how PO1 ensures the all-important chassis retains its tensile strength by anticipating design and equipment features without having to cut, drill or weld to add critical features such as air fittings, hydraulics and even the cab.
Episodes of "Talking Trash" delve into topics such as “the meticulous attention to detail and the customer-centric approach that sets Autocar apart in the industry."
"From pre-engineering to the assembly line and final inspection, viewers are taken on a journey through the heart and soul of Autocar’s manufacturing process," the company says.
“What sets the ‘Talking Trash’ series apart is its authentic approach to PO1—explaining the benefits to our customers, from the people who actually build the trucks,” Autocar Chair Andrew Taitz says. “We are incredibly proud of our PO1 process and wanted to share our commitment to it to really show the long-term customer benefits."
“We wanted to showcase how Autocar’s PO1 integration has made our ACX trucks such refuse industry favorites," Autocar Chief Experience Officer Craig Antonucci adds.
“We hope everyone who watches this series leaves with a clear understanding how the Power of One brings two companies together to deliver the highest integration in the refuse industry to our customers.”
The “Talking Trash” series can access via Autocar’s Facebook and Instagram pages, its X account and on YouTube.
