“IDEM is happy to administer Indiana’s E-Cycle Program,” Assistant Commissioner Bob Lugar says. “By working with municipalities and registered collectors and recyclers, Hoosiers have a safe way to dispose of unwanted electronics and contribute to Indiana’s circular recycling economy.”
Accepted items include televisions, cables, wires, cell phones, computer monitors and printers.
As of Jan. 1, 2011, Indiana households, small businesses and public schools are prohibited from disposing of electronic scrap in any bin that is intended for disposal at a landfill or by burning or incineration. Since 2009, the state has recycled more than 375 million pounds of electronics.
