Avenel, New Jersey-based ACV Enviro says it has commissioned an auction on Dec. 9, 2020, as part of an effort to phase out 10 percent of its current truck fleet to be replaced with lower-emissions vehicles.
ACV Enviro describes itself as involved in remediation, environmental and waste disposal activities, and owns and operates two Part B RCRA Hazardous Waste Disposal Facilities tied to a network of more than 25 environmental/industrial/field service centers.
“As a large environmental company with a massive fleet, we are acutely aware of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions,” says Michael Harris, vice president of operations and optimization. “Our maintenance and optimization teams are committed to protecting the public and taking care of our people and customers by providing them with the best equipment (and emissions) on the market.”
ACV Enviro describes the auction as the next step in its Green Fleet Sustainability Plan (GFSP), which includes “aggressive goals of a greener fleet by 2021.”
According to the company, its maintenance and optimization teams identified the roughly 10 percent of its current fleet that will be up for auction Dec. 9. The auction “lays the groundwork” to add brand new lower emissions 2021 vehicles to its roster. ACV says it also has added Samsara route optimization software to its vehicles to increase the safety, efficiency and sustainability of its fleet’s operations.
“We are extremely excited for the upcoming auction paving the way for us to make the move to a more climate friendly fleet of trucks,” says Harris. “By making this change, it will help the organization reach our goals by lowering repair costs, better emissions, higher utilization, and most importantly, improved reliability for our people and customers. It is amazing, during this unprecedented time of COVID, when other companies are struggling, ACV is investing; not only in our fleet but in our people so we can provide great, safe, world-class service.”
