Cupertino, California-based Aemetis Inc., which offers renewable energy technology and equipment, including for renewable natural gas (RNG) produced from dairy farm waste, says it lost $77 million last year, a smaller amount compared with the $87 million it lost in 2024.

The company points to its biogas-related operations, including at dairy farms, as having produced $12 million in net income last year while experiencing a 61 percent increase in dairy farm RNG production last year compared with 2024.

The other two segments in which Aemetis is involve harnessing cellulosic sugar from wood waste to produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) or transportation fuels and oils.

Aemitis says its dairy digester projects also generated cash proceeds of $18 million in 2025 from the sale of investment tax credits

“In addition to achieving important operational milestones during 2025 in all of the business segments, the dairy RNG segment generated net income of $12.2 million for the fourth quarter of 2025 while we continued building the infrastructure that supports long-term growth across our renewable energy platform,” says Eric McAfee, board chair and CEO of Aemetis.

“With RNG production scaling, ethanol plant efficiency improvements underway, and federal clean fuel incentives beginning to be monetized, we believe Aemetis is positioned for meaningful growth in revenue and cash flow as we move through 2026,” says McAfee.

“We are pleased to see policy support from the White House and Congress in the One Big Beautiful Bill that is now being implemented as well as the exciting California legislative approval of year-round E15 [fuel] in October 2025, which allows the ethanol market to grow by 50 percent in the state to offset rising gasoline prices.”
