Avis announces Recycling & Waste Equipment Division appointments

Gordon Hill and Mark Murphy have been named vice presidents.

The Recycling & Waste Equipment Division of Avis Industrial Corp., Upland, Indiana, has made two key additions to its staff as it continues to bring American Baler Co., Harris Waste Management Group and International Baler Corp. more closely together.

Mark Murphy has been named vice president, Manufacturing and Supply Chain. He is responsible for standardizing and streamlining activities across four manufacturing locations and three procurement organizations by leveraging the capabilities and scope of the division.

Murphy joins Avis following more than 20 years with Atlanta-based WestRock with executive leadership experience in operations and risk management. He most recently served as the president and general manager of the Seven Hill Paperboard mill in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Murphy graduated from the University of Georgia with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration.

Gordon Hill has been named vice president, Commercial Operations. He is responsible for developing a unified go-to-market strategy encompassing the vast product offerings across the three baler companies.

Hill has been a member of the Avis family of companies for the past two years, serving as the president and general manager of Pacific Forge, Fontana, California. He has more than 30 years of site operations and business general management experience with a track record of sales growth through effective product line profitability and brand repositioning, according to the company.

Hull has bachelor’s degrees in chemical and mechanical engineering from the University of Missouri as well as master’s degrees in chemical engineering from Villanova University and business administration from the University of Houston.

The three companies comprising Avis’ Recycling & Waste Equipment Division have been in business for 289 years combined, offer a full range of recycling and waste compaction solutions, operate four manufacturing locations and support the largest global installed base of balers for recyclables, the company says. Products include single-ram, horizontal, two-ram, ferrous and specialty balers; scrap metal and automobile shear/baler/loggers; heavy-duty shredders; and high-volume waste and scrap compactors.
