BHS-Sonthofen Inc. expands

BHS-Sonthofen Inc., the Charlotte, North Carolina-based wholly owned subsidiary of BHS-Sonthofen GmbH, Sonthofen, Germany, has introduced its new recycling division for the North American market. The recycling division along with the process filtration and mixing divisions will be based in a 14,000-square-foot facility in Charlotte.

BHS size reduction and shredding technologies are used for e-scrap, slag, ash, dross, tires, wires and cables, refuse-derived fuel and automotive residuals. BHS says it provides the complete plant as well as spare parts, service and engineering from the Charlotte facility.

Peter Schirk will lead the division for BHS. He has many years of experience in the recycling of nonferrous metals (both hot processing and cold impacting) and has managed the design and startup of state-of-the-art cold processing plants for aluminum dross in the U.S. He also has worked with other nonferrous processors worldwide, BHS says. The company says Schirk’s “extensive experience and knowledge of material reduction will benefit our clients in the recycling marketplace.”
