Biomedical Waste Services Inc. (BWS), headquartered in Baltimore, has appointed Trey Krell as CEO, effective immediately, assuming the role as BWS’ founder and President Ray Krell retires after more than 50 years in the industry.
Formerly the company’s vice president, Trey Krell brings a deep understanding of technology, innovation and industry growth, BWS says.
In his new role as CEO, he will lead the company's strategic vision, emphasizing innovation, environmental sustainability and customer service while driving expansion throughout the mid-Atlantic region and overseeing all aspects of the business.
"After 50 years of building this company from the ground up, I couldn't be more confident in Trey's ability to lead the team into its next chapter," Ray Krell says. "Trey has consistently demonstrated the vision, dedication and innovative thinking necessary to not only maintain our high standards but to elevate them. Our customers, employees and community are in excellent hands."
Since assuming the role of vice president in 2021, Trey Krell has played a role in implementing new technologies, including installing a reusable sharps container robotic decanter and automated container washer/sterilization line.
Trey Krell's leadership also has played a key role in recent achievements at BWS, including expanding service offerings, implementing advanced materials processing technology and strengthening environmental sustainability initiatives.
"I am deeply honored to assume this leadership role and continue the legacy my father built over five decades," Trey Krell says. "Ray's vision and commitment to safety, innovation and community service have created a strong foundation. I'm excited to build upon that foundation while leading our phenomenal team toward new opportunities for growth and service excellence. Our focus remains on providing reliable, compliant and sustainable solutions for our customers while continuing to innovate in this critical industry."
