A WM collection truck driver was struck by a car in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania, reports WPXI, a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, NBC affiliate.
The driver was taken to Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Police tell the station the incident took place on Kenmont Avenue on Jan. 11. The driver for Houston-based WM was in the process of pulling a trash can as he was struck by a black sedan.
A neighbor told WPXI Channel 11 the car swerved onto the sidewalk, snapping a tree before leaving the scene and then later returning.
Mt. Lebanon police tell the station the female driver of the car is being charged with driving under the influence and related charges.
WM told Channel 11 they are working with local authorities and want to thank police and medical teams involved in the incident.
