CompostNow, a Raleigh, North Carolina-based organics recycling solutions provider, has announced it has become a Certified B Corporation.
According to a news release, the company began the process in 2022. B Corp Certification is a designation that a business is meeting high standards of verified performance, accountability and transparency on factors from employee benefits and charitable giving to supply chain practices and input materials. In order to achieve certification, according to the B Corp website.
Companies that score above 80 are invited to apply to become a B Corp, and after a 10-month verification and review process, CompostNow scored 84.9. In joining B Corp, CompostNow says it has aligned itself with 7,720 businesses across 150 industries, with just over 2,000 of them in the U.S. and Canada.

“Becoming a B Corp aligns with our commitment to being transparent, accountable and continuously improving, and the application process has allowed us to formalize and document many existing aspects of our work and deepen our commitment to doing good along the path of building a great business,” says David Paull, chief impact officer at CompostNow.
Founded in 2011 as part of a national grassroots movement, CompostNow evolved from its early days of collecting food scraps in personal vehicles and on bike-powered-routes to become a diversified service provider that employs over 90 team members across North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Ohio.
Today, CompostNow says it offers elevated pay, comprehensive paid time-off programs, 401k plans and health benefits for full and part-time employees. The company also oversees the Garden Partner Program, where customers have the option to share compost with local farms and gardens.
