Equipment supplier Efactor3 LLC, headquartered in the Charlotte, North Carolina, area, celebrates 10 years of serving the recycling industry Aug. 8, 2018. The company also will host a grand opening of its test lab in Pineville, North Carolina, in September of this year, says eFactor3 founder and President Hartmut Bendfeldt. The test lab features the OneStep Extrusion System by Austrian company Maschinen und Anlagenbau Schulz GmbH (MAS), which debuted in North America at NPE2018: The Plastics Show in Orlando, Florida.
OneStep combines two major processes—recycling and compounding—into a single system, according to eFactor3. The system features a parallel twin screw extruder and a conical twin screw system. Its co-rotating conical screw design ensures high-quality homogenization with stable melt pressure, while its large screw shaft diameter provides high torque for processing the toughest materials, according to the company. Its stable melt pressure also reduces the need for a melt pump in many applications. The MAS OneStep’s low energy consumption can save operators 25 percent to 40 percent compared with other extrusion methods, eFactor3 says.
Potential customers interested in testing their material using the MAS OneStep will be able to make an appointment with eFactor3’s test lab. Bendfeldt says customers can apply a portion of the testing fee toward a new system if purchased within six months from the test.
During NPE, eFactor3 exhibited equipment and technologies from its partners, which includes MAS extrusion and plastics processing equipment, waterless cleaning systems from Pla.To, Hamos electrostatic separation equipment and Kreyenborg infrared drying technology.
Bendfeldt says all the equipment eFactor3 displayed at the show had been presold, with the melt filtration equipment going to a customer in Pennsylvania and the MAS extrusion system going to an in-house recycler of PETG (polyethylene terephthalate glycol-modified) in Wisconsin.
He describes NPE2018 as “a great show from a traffic perspective,” adding that eFactor3 was busy throughout the event.
Efactor3 offers a variety of preshredding, screening, sifting, shredding, cleaning, granulating and extrusion equipment as well as conveying and separation equipment, systems integration and installation services.
