The independent judges of the ICIS (Independent Chemical Information Service) Innovation Awards 2017 have announced that Montreal-based Enerkem has been selected as the winner in the Innovation with Best Benefit for Environment and Sustainability category, which highlight improved manufacturing processes or products, with reduced environmental impact.
The chemical industry and innovation can play a key role in addressing many of today’s environmental concerns, including global warming, pollution, recycling, water supply security and nutrition. The Innovation with Best Benefit for Environment and Sustainability category won by Enerkem recognizes the implementation of ideas relating to environmental performance and sustainability into the company’s product and process innovation.
In 2015, Enerkem the company was also a recipient of the ICIS Innovation Award in the Best Business Innovation category, which celebrates chemical companies driving innovative business beyond traditional product and process development.
Now in their 14th year, the annual ICIS Innovation Awards seek to recognize and reward companies and individuals that show high levels of innovation in products and processes, as well as providing benefits to the environment and leading progress towards sustainability. The winners are chosen by independent judges, who review the significant steps forward in technological and business innovation, with tangible results emerging during 2016 and the early part of this year.
