The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has scheduled a public information session and hearing on Jan. 8, 2019, to accept comments about a proposed expansion of the hazardous waste landfill in Oregon, Ohio operated by Envirosafe Services of Ohio Inc.
During the information session, representatives of the Ohio EPA will present information about the expansion application and the permitting process. In a hearing immediately following the information session, the public can submit comments for the record regarding the proposed action.
Envirosafe accepts hazardous waste from off-site sources for storage, treatment or disposal at its Oregon landfill. There is one active cell that receives waste at the landfill. The company has applied for a permit modification to vertically expand the cell by 14 feet. If approved, it would increase the remaining capacity by 144,670 cubic yards to around 244,440 cubic yards.
Envirosafe also is requesting a permit modification for the surface water management plan for two other closed cells at its landfill. The modification would update calculations to make sure the stormwater control system for the two cells can contain water from a 25-year, 24-hour storm.
The draft permit modification and related information can be viewed on this Web page under the “What’s New” tab.
