EREF calling for solid waste abstract submissions

Winning submissions will be presented at the seventh annual Global Waste Management Symposium June 3.


The Environmental Research & Education Foundation (EREF) is calling for abstract submissions for the seventh annual Global Waste Management Symposium (GWMS).

The symposium, presented by EREF and Waste360, will take place Feb. 23-26, 2020, in Indian Wells, California.

GWMS will serve as a forum for the presentation of applied and fundamental research, case studies, and policy analysis on solid waste and materials management.

Researchers, engineers, designers, academicians, students, facility owners and operators, regulators, and policymakers are invited to participate.

Abstracts are due June 3 and can be related to all areas of solid waste engineering and management, including, but not limited to:

  • Waste minimization and reuse
  • Waste management planning
  • Landfill operation and design
  • Organics diversion
  • Elevated temperatures/subsurface reactions in landfills
  • Global climate change and greenhouse basses
  • Sustainable materials management
  • Life cycle assessment
  • Wastes from energy production
  • Waste collection, transport, equipment and safety

An abstract template is available for download here. This template must be used. 

The abstract should provide sufficient detail to show that the submission contains significant results of a case study, applied or fundamental research, or policy/regulatory/economic analysis. Inclusion of tables or figures that summarize selected results is encouraged. Abstract length is limited to two pages of single-spaced text excluding tables and figures.

to authors regarding whether or not the abstract is accepted will be provided by August 30.

All presenters (poster and oral) are required to register for the symposium.
