Every Can Counts U.S., a program dedicated to the recycling of aluminum beverage cans, has announced that more than 75,000 cans were collected and recycled across four events and festivals hosted in the U.S. this spring and summer.

In April, more than 60,000 cans and aluminum cups were collected for recycling at SweetWater 420 Fest in Atlanta. The three-day event yielded the largest haul of the season, with recycled cans redeemed for scrap value and proceeds donated to Habitat for Humanity.

In June, approximately 1,000 cans were collected at World Pride Street Festival in Washington, in partnership with Capital Pride Alliance. An additional 1,000 cans were collected with Red Bull Italy SailGP Team that same month during a two-day sailing regatta in New York.

In August, more than 13,000 aluminum cans were collected during iHeartRadio’s Bull Float Trip, a two-day country music concert and river float event, in Leasburg, Missouri. The event also debuted Every Can Count’s “rock-and-roll amplifier” recycling cage which was used to collected beverage cans in partnership with Mid-American Clean Future.

“Festivals, concerts and sporting events bring people together to celebrate, connect and create unforgettable moments. They are also places where we can create positive environmental action,” says Tim Ebner, vice president of marketing and communications at Can Manufacturers Institute and a lead organizer of the Every Can Counts U.S. chapter. “Thanks to the efforts of our sponsors, volunteers and festivalgoers, more than 75,000 recycled cans are now on their way back to becoming new cans, as quick as 60 days or less.”
