FCC Environment Lands Contract with DS Smith

FCC Environment, a global waste management firm headquartered in Spain, has been awarded a contract with the British recycling company DS Smith Recycling that includes collecting and treating residual waste from businesses in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, U.K.

As part of the contract, FCC will take in around 2,000 metric tons of non-recyclable waste per year from DS Smith at its energy from waste (EfW) facility at Eastcroft, Nottingham, U.K. The company, a recycling and renewable energy firm, already provides various services for DS Smith Recycling.

In an FCC news release, Paul Burnell, C&I director, says, “This contract recognizes FCC Environment’s commitment to supporting businesses of all sizes to recycle more and generate energy from what cannot be recycled. It shows the progress we’ve already made in developing appropriate collection and treatment capabilities.

“FCC Environment has an ambitious program of securing waste streams through the development and expansion of a commercial and industrial collection service, and we are also introducing appropriate waste treatment infrastructure across our business to support our customers’ recycling and recovery needs,” Burnell adds.
