A fire broke out June 11 at the John C. Holland Enterprises Landfill in Suffolk, Virginia. Suffolk Fire and Rescue were called to the scene for a mulch fire at the landfill. According to fire officials, when crews arrived, they found a wood grinder used to grind wood debris into mulch caught fire and spread to the surrounding wood piles, an article on wavy.com states.
The resulting fire totaled nearly 1.5 acres. The fire began at around 4 p.m. and by 6 p.m. it was under control, fire officials reported.
No injuries were reported.
