Fornnax partners with RPM Automotive on tire recycling

Fornnax, an India-based manufacturer of recycling equipment, has announced a significant project with RPM Automotive Group Limited, an Australian automotive parts distributor. To achieve its environmental objectives, RPM integrated Fornnax’s high-capacity SR-200 HD primary shredder into its operations in 2024.

RPM says the addition of the Fornnax SR-200 HD primary shredder has substantially improved its production efficiency as well as enhanced the quality of its recycled materials.

RPM’s 3,500-square-meter recycling facility process more than 180 tons of used tires each week, with plans to expand operations to exceed 300 tons per week. At full capacity, this initiative will allow RPM to secure about 5 percent of the national market share, strengthening its influence in the country’s circular economy, Fornnax says.

RPM’s recycling program uses reverse logistics and engages with the open market to acquire tires for repurposing. The company transforms discarded tires into recycled rubber-based products used in road infrastructure projects and as low-grade diesel fuel for industrial kilns, mills and power plants.

By leveraging its existing distribution network and customer base, RPM is projected to collect and recycle up to 54,000 tons of end-of-life tires within the next five years, Fornnax says.
