GFL employee charged for illegally dumping 12 tons at residence

53-year-old Malcolm Clement Williams was charged with one count of littering in excess of 500 pounds.

A GFL Environmental collection employee working in the community of Philadelphia, North Carolina, is facing a felony littering charge after authorities determined he illegally dumped more than 12 tons of waste on the yard of a residential home on Nov. 11, according to The Richmond Observer.

Authorities were notified of the dumping by neighboring residents. After an investigation, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office charged 53-year-old Malcolm Clement Williams with one count of littering in excess of 500 pounds.

“Investigators developed leads identifying GFL Environmental as the source of the illegal activity,” Richmond County Sheriff Mark Gulledge told The Richmond Observer.

After being notified, GFL representatives came to collect the 12.58 tons of waste that had been left at the residence.

“Representatives of GFL Environmental responded to the location to assist with the investigation and removal of the debris,” Gulledge said.

Williams was given a $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 2.
