Global Bioenergies delivers equipment for Germany-based demonstration plant

Global Bioenergies, Evry, France, has announced first package of equipment for its Leuna demonstration plant has been delivered to the site.

In April 2015, Global Bioenergies submitted a large order to a German equipment supplier specializing in fermenter manufacture. By virtue of this agreement, comprising fermentation auxiliaries and structures, equipment was delivered on Oct. 12, 2015, and the construction at Leuna site has commenced.

Ales Bulc, Director of the German subsidiary, Global Bioenergies GmbH, says, “We are on track with our construction schedule. The actual delivery and the start of construction started exactly on the earliest planned date. We now expect delivery of the 5000 litre fermenter in Q1 2016 and the purification unit in Q2 2016. Final assembly on site should be completed by July 2016."

Global Bioenergies is developing a process to convert renewable resources into hydrocarbons through fermentation. The company initially focused its efforts on the production of isobutene, one of the most important petrochemical building blocks that can be converted into fuels, plastics, organic glass and elastomers. Global Bioenergies continues to improve the performances of its process, operates its industrial pilot, has begun the construction of its demo plant in Germany, and prepares the first full-scale plant through a Joint-Venture with Cristal Union, named IBN-One. The company also replicated its achievement to propylene and butadiene, two members of the gaseous olefins family, key molecules at the heart of petrochemical industry.
