Health Waste Institute elects new chair

The Health Waste Institute (HWI), an industry group within the National Waste & Recycling Association, Arlington, Virginia, has announced that Selin Hoboy, vice president of legislative and regulatory affairs at Stericycle Inc., Lake Forest, Illinois, has been elected as the new chair, while Rudy Vingris, the healthcare business development manager for Waste Management, Houston, will remain as vice chair. Hobo will begin her one-year term Jan. 1, 2018.

Hoboy is responsible for managing legislative and regulatory affairs. She has worked in the environmental health and safety industry for more than 20 years and at Stericycle for more than 17 years. Hoboy has supported the waste industry as an active member of the Healthcare Waste Institute.

“It is an honor and privilege to be selected as the next chair for the Healthcare Waste Institute. During a time of much change and opportunity for the industry, I look forward to serving the members in the upcoming year,” Hoboy says. 

Vingris has been involved extensively in hazardous waste management for more than 25 years. At WM, he manages the pharmaceutical and hazardous waste management program that provides services to health care customers, managing and disposing of pharmaceutical and chemical wastes.
