Hitachi Zosen Inova AG, (HZI) the Swiss-based subsidiary of Hitachi Zosen Corp., has announced plans to purchase all shares of HNP Kraftwerkstechnik GmbH, a subsidiary of Germany based Hydraulik Nord GmbH.
The acquisition brings together HZI, which specializes in the design, construction, and service of energy-from-waste (EfW) plants, with HNP, which engages in the services of EfW plants and power generation facilities in Germany.
The acquisition will allow the combined company to provide tailored services to customers throughout Germany, with HNP Kraftwerkstechnik covering the northern region, and Hitachi Zosen Inova the southern region.
Hitachi Zosen Inova manufactures equipment in the EfW sector. The company has delivered more than 200 plants worldwide. The company deals primarily in the engineering, procurement, and construction of EfW plants, and in recent years has been developing EfW plant service business by itself. Through its acquisition of HNP, the company is looking to expand its service business in Germany as well as retrofitting of some older plants.
