Hoffman Sanitation Services, a Durant, Oklahoma-based collection services provider, has acquired James Shea Sanitation, a waste services provider based in Coalgate, Oklahoma.

This marks Hoffman's fourth acquisition of 2025, second in the Coalgate market and 10th overall. Hoffman owner Stewart Hoffman says acquiring James Shea Sanitation fits into the acquisition of Ennis Sanitation Co. that Hoffman made last month, as both companies are based in the same area.

“We’re just trying to maximize our coverage area by staying efficient, so when something presents itself that fits into where we’re at already or on the outskirts of where we’re at already ... we can expand,” Hoffman says. “But it’s also about trying to make current routes more efficient.”

James Shea Sanitation has served Oklahoma communities, including Coal, Atoka and Pittsburg counties, for two years. James Shea owns and operates the company, which serves residential and commercial customers, including polycart accounts.

“I am proud to say I built what we are turning over, and we couldn’t have done it without wonderful customers,” Shea says. “Hoffman is a growing company in our market and other markets. Stewart and his team have the customer-first mentality as well as a passion for growing the business. Merging with Hoffman is absolutely the best-case scenario for the customers we serve.”

The acquisition supplements Hoffman’s existing service footprint in southeast Oklahoma. Hoffman says the company will continue to grow throughout southeast and southwest Oklahoma to fill in any holes in its operational footprint.

“We are excited to bring the existing James Shea Sanitation customers to the Hoffman family and to grow our routes in the service area while continuing to provide best of the best service to all of our customers," Hoffman say. "These routes allow us to fill in some of our existing northern routes, achieving efficiency and density."
