The Institute of Hazardous Materials Management (IHMM) and IHMM Foundation’s Professional Development Committee have launched expanded training in partnership with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
The collaboration introduces 34 new EPA AirKnowledge courses available to all IHMM certificants through the IHMM Foundation Professional Development platform. The EPA’s Office of Air Quality Planning and Standards developed AirKnowledge, a platform aimed at providing training centered around air quality programs and the Clean Air Act. These courses come preapproved with IHMM Certification Maintenance Points.
Course topics include:
- air quality management under the Clean Air Act;
- air pollution control and systems for selected industries;
- air toxics risk assessment framework;
- applying technical factors for area designations;
- components of attainment of State Implementation Plans and Tribal Implementation Plans;
- controlling air pollution;
- core principles of EPA air permitting programs;
- EPA air pollution control cost manual;
- fundamental of emissions inventories;
- health and environmental effects of air pollutants;
- history of the Clean Air Act and progress in the time since;
- introductions to air toxics, Title V permitting, National Ambient Air Quality Standards/implementation and ambient air monitoring for criteria pollutants;
- network design and site selection for monitoring particulate matter in ambient air;
- quality assurance for air pollution measurement; and
- setting enforceable potential to emit limits in new source review permits.
