Beauty and personal care brand owner Kao USA, headquartered in Cincinnati, has joined the How2Recycle label program. The brand will use the label, which is designed to answer consumers’ questions about package recyclability, on a variety of products to help consumers recycle more of its products.
Kao, which has its global headquarters in Japan, includes the brands Jergens, Curel, Bioré, Ban, John Frieda, Molton Brown, Goldwell and KMS.
More than 90 companies and thousands of name brand products carry the How2Recycle label, a project of the Sustainable Packaging Coalition, Charlottesville, Virginia, on products. The Sustainable Packaging Coalition is a membership-based group that brings together business, educational institutions and government agencies to broaden the understanding of packaging sustainability and develop meaningful improvements for packaging solutions.
“Improving recycling rates of packaging is important to Kao and our brands, but we know recycling takes effort,” says Simon Grant, project management, Kao. “Kao is eager to making recycling simpler for our consumers.”
“Because most people don’t have a recycling bin in their restroom, many bathroom products can easily miss their opportunity to be recycled,” says Caroline Cox, project associate, How2Recycle. “We are thrilled to welcome Kao as the newest member to How2Recycle and empower their customers to recycle more and better.”
