The County of Maui’s Department of Environmental Management (DEM) is soliciting grant applications and proposals from the public for the use of available funds from the county’s Department of Environmental Management Recycling Grant for the fiscal year 2018.
The county says $239,500 in grants are available, subject to county council appropriations.
The DEM says parties interested in applying must have projects that are consistent with the goals of department, as well as with the Environmental Protection & Sustainability Division and the Recycling Section, and focus on landfill diversion.
Potential projects that would quality for grant money could include, but are not limited to, recycling education, equipment upgrades, program expansion and the collection or processing of materials.
Completed grant summary applications must be delivered or postmarked by Feb. 10, 2017, to the Department of Environmental Management, Environmental Protection & Sustainability Division, Recycling Section, 2145 Wells Street, Suite 103, Wailuku, Hawaii 96793.
Summaries will be reviewed and applicants will be notified if they have been selected to submit a full DEM Recycling Grant Application; submittal of the grant summary application or the complete grant application does not guarantee funding.
A recommended grant application information session will be held Feb. 3, 2017, at 3 p.m. at 2145 Wells St., Suite 103, Wailuku, Hawaii.
Complete recycling grant applications must be delivered or postmarked by March 24, 2017, to the Department of Environmental Management, Environmental Protection & Sustainability Division, Recycling Section, 2145 Wells St., Suite 103, Wailuku, Hawaii 96793.
The applications may be obtained online at www.mauicounty.gov/recycle.
After the first round of grant applications are funded, additional grant applications might be accepted in fiscal year 2018.
