Meridian Waste has announced it has closed on the purchase of a new acquisition in the greater Raleigh, North Carolina, marketplace, where the company is headquartered.
This is the company’s second acquisition in the state since beginning operations in January 2020.
The acquisition includes McConnell Waste Systems Inc. located in Fuquay-Varina. The terms of the asset purchase agreement remain private. According to a release, assets will be managed under the current Meridian Waste structure and operate from the company’s hauling location at 103 Rupert Rd. location in Raleigh.
The acquired assets from McConnell Waste Systems include industrial commercial contracts in the greater Raleigh metro area. The acquisition will build collection density within the marketplace as well as volume through the company’s network of North Carolina transfer stations.
“The McConnell Waste acquisitions allow us to compile a sizable roll-off operation, capitalize on Meridian Waste’s network of disposal facilities, and maximize waste internalization and route efficiencies in the rapidly growing Raleigh market,” says Walter Hall, CEO of Meridian Waste. “We wish to welcome the new team members who will be joining us as well as the industrial customers who we look forward to servicing with quality waste removal and disposal services.”
Raleigh is North Carolina’s second-largest market in terms of population and has experienced 27 percent growth since 2010. This asset purchase marks Meridian Waste’s sixteenth acquisition since the company transitioned to private stock under the ownership of Warren Equity Partners (WEP) in April 2018.
