The Meridian Waste Missouri LLC subsidiary of Charlotte, North Carolina-based Meridian Waste Acquisitions LLC has engaged in support for residents of Elsberry, Missouri, in the aftermath of a flood that struck the region of east central Missouri in late July.

“The unprecedented rainfall caused flash flooding that inundated homes, overwhelmed drainage systems and displaced numerous families in this small Lincoln County city,” Meridian says.

A report from St. Louis-based KDSK-TV quotes Lincoln County officials calling the Elsberry flooding a once in a 500-year event, with the town’s fire chief adding, “This is definitely the worst we’ve ever seen it for rain and flooding for the town.”

Regarding its support, Meridian Waste says it has donated more than $2,000 in supplies, including contractor-grade trash bags, disinfectant wipes and all-purpose cleaners, diapers and baby wipes, soap and paper towels “to help residents begin the challenging task of cleaning their homes and neighborhoods.”

“In times like these, we don’t just serve a community—we are part of it,” says Gregg Asciutto, area president of Meridian Waste Missouri. “Our team members live and work in the region, and we wanted to ensure our neighbors had access to the tools they need to begin putting their lives back together.”

In addition to providing the supplies, Meridian Waste says it is offering discounted rental rates for roll-off containers, including hauling and disposal services to residents, contractors and businesses affected by the flood.

The containers are essential for the removal of storm-damaged furniture, building materials and household debris.

“Meridian Waste is in the business of creating cleaner and healthier environments, and that mission is especially important in the wake of a disaster,” says Barbie Russo, government and community affairs manager of Meridian Waste Missouri. “We’re committed to helping Elsberry families recover and rebuild, not just as a service provider but as a partner in this community.”

Nationwide, Meridian Waste operates in Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia, serving more than 580,000 residential, commercial, industrial and governmental customers by operating 30 hauling companies, nine transfer stations or materials recovery facilities, three municipal solid waste landfills, and four construction and demolition landfills.
