The Meridian Waste Alabama business unit of Charlotte, North Carolina-based Meridian Waste is reopening its Huntsville, Alabama, construction and demolition (C&D) materials transfer station after repairing damage caused by a fire late last year.
Following that fire last November, Meridian says the Huntsville facility has been fully rebuilt and reconfigured to provide "a safer and more efficient operational environment" for commercial haulers and contractors.
“Reopening the Huntsville transfer station reflects our ongoing commitment to delivering safe, reliable and environmentally responsible waste management services,” says Charlie Robertson, a Meridian Waste area president. “The enhancements made to the facility directly address traffic safety, operational flow and customer service.”
The facility, which reopened June 23, will be open weekdays from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Central.
Meridian Waste Alabama lists the following as accepted materials at the Huntsville facility: concrete and brick, untreated wood, metals, asphalt paving materials, plaster and drywall, plumbing fixtures, roofing materials and nonasbestos insulation.
The facility will not accept household waste, hazardous waste and yard waste.
