Workers at Michigan’s largest landfill are lobbying for higher wages. According to CBS Detroit, Operating Engineers 34 union representative want workers at Arbor Hills Landfill on W. Six Mile Road in Northville, Michigan will be out picketing trucks to get talks with the landfill owner, Advanced Disposal, Ponte Vedra, Florida.
According to the report, reps say well-paid engineers and operators of heavy equipment are needed to keep things safe but workers don’t think $13.26 an hour is enough and want more than $20 per hour.
Union reps say they will picket trucks at the facility until they get talks with the company. According to the report, no talks have been scheduled. Advanced Disposal says it has been negotiating in good faith for more than a year.
