Glendale, New York-based Mr. T Carting, one of the sixth largest private carting companies in New York City, has announced Thomas N. Toscano, chief financial officer and chief legal officer, has been named CEO of the company, effective Jan. 1, 2018. He succeeds his father, Peter Toscano, Sr., who led the company for 26 years and retires as of Dec. 31.
“It is a pleasure to know that Tom, who has spent the majority of his professional career at Mr. T Carting, will take the helm and lead our family-owned business," Peter Toscano Sr., president, says. "Tom has already made a major impact on the company as a champion of integrating the on-board computing technology that is installed in our trucks with back-office operations. I am confident that, under his leadership, Mr. T will continue to tap technology as a resource to improve route efficiency, customer service and ensure that our fleet is one of the most advanced in the industry."
“Having been part of Mr. T Carting for many years, I know that the long tenure of our employees and their passion for innovative and outstanding service is matched only by the loyalty of our customers. I will do everything possible to ensure that Mr. T Carting delivers on its promises to all of them. This is an auspicious moment, as we marked the 70th anniversary of the company in recent weeks. Our future is bright indeed as we will expand our recycling and compost programs, which we launched in 2005, as leaders in the waste management industry, and which are now a top priority in New York City government,” Tom Toscano says.
Tom Toscano previously served as chairperson of the New York City Chapter of the National Waste and Recycling Association (NWRA). He joined Mr. T Carting in 1996 as chief financial officer. He received his law degree from St. John’s University and his MBA from Cornell University.
