My Green Michigan, a Dimondale, Michigan-based food waste recycler, has acquired Clarkston, Michigan-based food waste, glass and carboard collection company CO Sustainability.
“CO Sustainability has built a strong customer family—from small businesses and restaurants to schools and hotels,” says Cliff Walkington, partner at My Green Michigan. “By joining forces with their experienced team, we’re creating a stronger, more comprehensive network while keeping the personal service both companies are known for.”
My Green Michigan began servicing CO Sustainability customers earlier this month, with no immediate changes to pricing. Any changes to pick-up schedules will be communicated in advance, the company says.
“It’s been an honor to support our community’s sustainability goals,” CO Sustainability CEO Mark Cherry says. “This partnership ensures our customers will keep getting the service they expect, with even more resources behind it.”

One of CO Sustainability’s largest customers, Royal Oak Public Schools, operates food recycling programs in eight buildings and now joins My Green Michigan’s growing list of K-12 and university partners. Other partners include the University of Michigan, Eastern Michigan University and Central Michigan University.
My Green Michigan’s customer list includes Bell’s Brewery and Eccentric Café, Chick-fil-A, Forgotten Harvest, HopCat, Chipotle and the Detroit Zoo. In addition to subscription cart service and roll-off dumpsters for businesses, the company partners with municipalities to offer food waste drop-off sites across Portage, Lansing, Meridian Township, Ferndale, Canton Township, Madison Heights and Eastpointe.
Earlier this year, My Green Michigan received the Award of Excellence in Recycling from the Michigan Recycling Coalition, which recognizes “innovative and inspiring programs and leaders who have made a difference in Michigan.”
