NERC extends deadline for call for papers

The deadline for submissions for the council’s Fall Conference, The Future of MRFs, that is set for Oct. 30-31, 2018, in Rocky Hill, Connecticut, has been extended to May 24.

The Brattleboro, Vermont-based Northeast Recycling Council (NERC) has extended the deadline for its call for papers for the council’s Fall Conference, The Future of MRFs, that is set for Oct. 30-31, 2018, in Rocky Hill, Connecticut.

The deadline for submission has been extended to May 24, 2018.

NERC says its conferences attract “an expert speaker pool and a diverse audience of government, industry, nonprofits and consultants working in sustainable materials management.”

The council asks those who have expertise in one of the following topics to consider submitting a presentation abstract:

  • material recovery facility (MRF) capacity in the northeast—current and future;
  • available and upcoming technology for differently sized MRFs;
  • best management practices for MRFs to effectively manage current market conditions;
  • MRFs’ ability to adapt to new products entering the marketplace;
  • MRFs’ ability to communicate with the public about what is recyclable;
  • safety concerns;
  • fires;
  • batteries;
  • propane tanks; and
  • employee safety issues and strategies.

Detailed presentation abstracts should be no more than 150 words and can be sent to Mary Ann Remolador, NERC’s assistant director and events organizer, at maryann@nerc.org.
