The Larchmont-Mamaroneck Joint Garbage Disposal Commission in New York has launched its food waste recycling program, a report by the Larchmont Patch says. Residents who participate in the program can collect food waste and drop it off at the Maxwell Avenue Sanitation Center in Larchmont.
According to the report, the center is open Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Tuesdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and Saturdays 8 to 11:45 a.m.
Starter kits will also be available at the site and at the Larchmont Village Hall and Mamaroneck Town Center from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The food waste will be composted, the report says.
