The National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA), Arlington, Virginia, has promoted LaWanda Washington from vice president of administration and internal operations to senior vice president of administration and events, recognizing her nearly three decades of service and leadership within the association.
Washington joined the organization in 1998. In her expanded role, she will continue to oversee administration, internal operations and information technology, while also taking on strategic leadership of NWRA’s meetings, events and operational execution across the association.
“LaWanda’s promotion reflects not only her exceptional institutional knowledge, but also her unwavering commitment to the success of this organization and its members,” says NWRA Chairman Don Ross. “She is a trusted leader, a problem-solver and a steady force behind the scenes. NWRA is stronger because of her dedication and service.”
The organization says Washington’s promotion underscores its commitment to recognizing long-standing leadership and investing in the people who help drive the association forward.
“LaWanda embodies what it means to be a dedicated colleague and leader,” NWRA President and CEO Michael E. Hoffman says. “Her institutional knowledge, professionalism and deep commitment to our mission make her uniquely qualified for this expanded role. As NWRA continues to grow and evolve, LaWanda’s leadership will be critical to delivering high-quality events and ensuring operational excellence across the association.”
