The National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA) announced it is joining the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to celebrate the agency’s 2020 Safe + Sound campaign.
Safe + Sound Week, which is being held the week of Aug. 10, is an effort to encourage every workplace to have a safety and health program. Specifically, Safe + Sound Week is meant to raise awareness and understanding of the value of safety and health programs that include management leadership, worker participation and a systematic approach to finding and fixing hazards in workplaces.
“NWRA is committed to workplace safety and wants every employee to come home safely at the end of his or her shift. That commitment is reflected in our partnership with OSHA,” NWRA President and CEO Darrell Smith says.
NWRA became a member of the OSHA Alliance last fall to support workplace safety. NWRA will promote OSHA’s Safe + Sound campaign through social media and provide safety and health tips geared towards waste and recycling professionals.
