The New York State Association for Reduction, Reuse and Recycling (NYSAR3) is reaching out to owners or executives of companies in the state that generate industrial, commercial and institutional (IC&I) recyclable materials to take part in a survey.
According to NYSAR3, the Syracuse, New York-based Center for Sustainable Materials Management (CSMM) and Ann Arbor, Michigan-based RRS to complete a New York state recycling system needs assessment and gap analysis.
The project has been designed to evaluate the state’s current recycling system and make recommendations for how to improve and reach New York’s waste reduction goals.
RRS is developing a summary of the current recycling services provided to commercial and institutional generators to determine the levels of recycling service provided and their related costs in New York. The consulting firm also is collecting data on recycling services provided to residents, as well as developing a summary of recycling services provided by haulers within the state.
NYSAR3 is asking representatives from commercial businesses and institutions within the state to complete a survey that can be found online by Dec. 20.
A separate survey can be filled out by representatives of hauling firms that provide services in New York, with that form also available online.
Survey respondents can “not only play a vital role in enhancing recycling efforts” but also can be entered for a chance to win one of five $100 Visa gift cards, according to NYSAR3.
