The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (Ohio EPA) has awarded $1.1 million in grants to 24 local governments, businesses and nonprofit organizations throughout southwest Ohio to implement recycling, litter prevention, market development and scrap tire recycling program.
According to a news release from the Ohio EPA, the agency is issuing more than $6 million in grant funding to 103 recipients statewide, with more than $3.1 million specifically for community and litter prevention grants. Other grants will help recycling facilities to purchase new equipment and expand facilities. The following are a few grants that have been awarded to recipients in southwest Ohio:
- Arthur Morgan Institute for Community Solutions (Greene County) - $99,881 for organics composting;
- Logan County Solid Waste District - $200,000 to purchase equipment to expand fiber recovery facility;
- Royal Paper Stock Co. Inc. (Butler County) - $72,740 for paper fiber recycling; and
- Rumpke Waste and Recycling (Hamilton County) - $199,588 to purchase a shredder, knives, metal detector and slider bed.
