The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality is proposing to issue a solid waste permit renewal to Lane County Waste Management to operate its Vida-Leaburg Transfer Station in Leaburg, Oregon. If the permit renewal is approved the owner would be able to operate the facility in conformance with the requirements, limitations and conditions set forth in the permit.
The permit regulates the collection and transfer of municipal solid waste to a permitted disposal site and it is open to the public. The permit would allow for the collection and transfer of approved materials to markets for recycling, energy recovery and composting or reuse.
The permit does prohibit the transfer station from accepting certain materials such as used tires, certain electronic devices, lead acid batteries and used oil. The existing permit also prohibits the transfer station from accepting hazardous waste and materials that contain asbestos.
Parties interesting in commenting on the proposed permit renewal are asked to send their comments to Denise Miller, DEQ’s Permit Coordinator, at 165 E. Seventh Ave., Suite. 100, Eugene, OR 97401 or miller.denise@deq.state.or.us. The deadline to submit comments is March 24, 2017.
