After performing extensive tests for more than a year, quasar energy group, Cleveland, has announced the roll-out of q-bio adsorption technology. Q-bio is a process that binds nutrient-rich anaerobic digester (AD) effluent with woody waste materials (such as yard waste) to create a high-value compost product, according to the company.
With testing complete on q-bio and quasar’s Ohio digesters prepared to produce pasteurized or Class A equate material, quasar says it has started working with composters in various states.
“This is a game-changing technology for the industry, and quasar is proud to be at the forefront,” says quasar president Mel Kurtz.
The company has performed batch trials with collaborators at AD facilities and composting sites in both Columbus and Zanesville, Ohio. “Tests show that q-bio reduces composting time by up to 33 percent while achieving an optimal carbon to nitrogen ratio,” says Bruce Bailey, quasar vice president, technical affairs.
The q-bio concept has been deployed in Europe for more than twenty years, and the quasar says it is confident that q-bio is the next step in growing the AD industry.
