RapidWorks, a Boston-based software provider for heavy equipment service providers, has acquired waste and recycling industry software provider, CRO Software Solutions, headquartered in Calgary.

Founded in 2013, CRO now serves 300 customers across North America, including Dumpster Guys LLC, Performance Waste Management and more. The acquisition will expand RapidWorks’ footprint into the waste management industry and provide CRO with the resources for rapid scaling.

"My team is extremely proud about going from industry insiders solving problems with software to a leading player in the waste management software market, attracting the attention of customers and software leaders like RapidWorks,” CRO founder and CEO Dan Klufas says. “This next chapter of CRO with RapidWorks will help us innovate faster and bring greater value to our customers. What started as a frustration in my own recycling facility has grown into something much larger—and now, with RapidWorks, we can take it even further."

The acquisition reflects long-term efforts to provide solutions in safety and compliance, quote-to-payment, fleet maintenance, operator management and CRM in the heavy equipment service industry, according to RapidWorks. The companies aim to provide enhanced solutions for existing customers while driving growth in new industries.

"This acquisition accelerates growth for both companies and for our customers,” RapidWorks CEO Tim Curran says. “Together, we can expand into new verticals while strengthening how we serve all heavy equipment service providers with purpose-built solutions that help them build stronger and more profitable businesses."

Wavecrest Growth Partners and MassMutual Ventures have increased their investment in RapidWorks to support the company’s expansion.

"RapidWorks has been on a great growth trajectory with new products and new markets, and we're thrilled to continue fueling the company's momentum,” says Deepak Sindwani, managing partner at Wavecrest. “This acquisition strengthens RapidWorks position as the software leader for heavy equipment service providers, and we're proud to support their journey."

Both RapidWorks and CRO plan to invest in new product innovation and customer support enhancements, with CRO maintaining its product identity and serving its existing customers.

"As leader of the day-to-day operations of CRO, I'm thrilled for my customers who are going to benefit from more resources, exceptional processes and systems and better support,” CRO Chief Operating Officer Shane Duty says. “With RapidWorks behind us, we can deliver new solutions for the waste market and accelerate development to help our customers succeed."
