Recology, a San Francisco-based waste management company, has stated that its collection drivers are working night shifts as the city prepares for Super Bowl festivities.
Recology drivers serving key locations are starting collection routes at 10 p.m. to help minimize traffic disruptions while emptying recycling, composting and landfill bins at major venues including the Moscone Center, Bill Graham Auditorium, The Embarcadero and Pier 80, as well as commercial corridors.
In addition to their regular rounds, collectors are making multiple passes to empty public litter cans on blocks projected to receive extra foot traffic.
To further support these initiatives, Recology says it’s deploying extra collection routes and dispatching rover trucks that can respond quickly and empty refuse containers.
Recycle Central, a Recology recycling facility on San Francisco’s Pier 96, is fully staffed with workers sorting and baling additional materials.
Locals and visitors are encouraged by Recology to use special recycling and composting event boxes at venues across the city during Super Bowl week.
