London-based Reconomy has acquired Integrated Waste Analysts Inc. (IWA), Hanover, Maryland, its seventh acquisition undertaken in the United States.

IWA says it connects companies throughout the U.S. with waste and recycling services and programs that suit their needs while also handling invoicing and service questions. It was founded in 1996 and has served brands including Tesla, Parts Authority, Freedom Forever and Lansing Building Products.

Reconomy has scaled its operations in the United Kingdom and Europe and says it thus has been focused on executing the next phase of a growth strategy to build a material position in the U.S. to capitalize on the significant opportunities.

The U.S. produces 10 times more waste than the U.K. and still contains numerous linear resource chains, low recycling rates and an over-reliance on landfill and incineration, Reconomy says.

The move comes just a few weeks after Reconomy acquired Glastonbury, Connecticut-based National Waste Associates. As in that case, IWA will be connected to Reconomy's Lincoln Waste Solutions subsidiary.

Lincoln Waste Solutions by Reconomy remains its core brand in North America and the platform through which further acquisitions are being added.

“Integrated Waste Analysts is an important acquisition which brings new capabilities to our rapidly growing U.S. operations,” Reconomy Chief Executive Guy Wakeley says.

“We have now completed seven acquisitions in North America in just over a year and built a top five waste and recycling management business from scratch. This is in line with our strategic priorities of attaining leading positions in our core international markets and commitment to allocating capital to where the most attractive opportunities lie.”

He says Reconomy and Lincoln as possess “unrivalled data assets,” technology capabilities, a global footprint and an asset-light model that has it positioned to capture opportunities in large, addressable markets, deliver superior earnings growth and help customers embrace the circular economy, lower costs and emissions.

“Integrated Waste Analysts is a strong strategic fit with Lincoln Waste Solutions by Reconomy,” says Michael Williams, executive vice president of circular solutions for North America at Reconomy. “This acquisition expands our capabilities, enhances our customer offering and positions us well to continue to scale our operations across North America."

Columbia, Maryland-based Evergreen Advisors helped represent IWA on the transaction.

“We are excited to be joining forces with Lincoln Waste Solutions by Reconomy," IWA co-founder and President Michael Keough says. Its strong position in North America and commitment to scaling further across this region, along with its industry leading expertise in waste management, data and technology, will enable us to deliver even better services to our customers and accelerate our growth."
