Following approvals by the MRF Committee, Plastics Division and Paper Division, the board of directors for the Recycled Materials Association (ReMA), Washington, will consider changes to single- and dual-stream inbound residential specifications and the preamble of the Guidelines for Paper Stock.
Revised specifications
The proposed revision to the inbound residential specifications would add high-density polyethylene, or HDPE, rigid can and bottle carriers to the inbound residential single- and dual-stream specifications.
Numerous changes to the Preamble for the Guidelines for Paper Stock have been proposed, including adding language under “Quantity” that reads: “Any light load fees may be agreed upon by buyer and seller prior to shipment. (i.e., predetermined formula or flat/ton rate under minimum.”
Additionally, under “Downgrade Claims/Rejections,” the following text has been proposed as an addition: “Buyer is entitled to full or partial FOB [free on board] freight reimbursements from seller for downgraded or rejected shipments.”
The following text has been proposed as an addition under “Miscellaneous Practices:” “Upon notification of a weight discrepancy, buyer and seller shall work to reach a resolution within 15 days. If a resolution can’t be met, weight will default to certified scale weight of buyer.”
Other language in the preamble has been modified slightly.
