Waste industry veteran Roy Eccleshall died from a heart attack suffered at his home on Jan. 24, an obituary published in the Honolulu Star Advertiser reported. He was 77.
Eccleshall, who was born in Vancouver, Canada, worked in the waste industry for 60 years. Eccleshall began his career at BFI Waste Systems. He later joined USA Waste and Waste Management, before serving the last 16-plus years of his career as the executive vice president of maintenance and facilities at Honolulu Disposal.
Beyond spending six decades in the waste industry, Eccleshall was a hot rod enthusiast and enjoyed working on his cars.
Eccleshall is survived by Malulani, his wife of 33 years; son Kalei and wife Allison; son Keaka and fiancée Lindsay; and grandchildren Kamea, Mahina, Ryder and Jordyn.
