The city of Salem, Massachusetts, has partnered with Houston-based WM Inc. to offer a new annual scholarship program.
The scholarship will award $1,000 to a Salem resident who is pursuing undergraduate or graduate level studies in preparation for a career focused on environmental sustainability, including careers in environmental science or careers in other fields such as education, engineering or law so long as there is a specific environmental focus.
“In Salem, education of our students is a community mission,” Mayor Dominick Pangallo says. “I am grateful to the members of our staff and Waste Management for making this opportunity available to help Salem residents, particularly those working toward careers that will sustain our environment, pursue higher education. I encourage Salem residents who qualify to apply for this scholarship.”
Applications are due by May 31 and should be sent to Janelle Rolke via email at jrolke@salem.com. The application form is available here.
